Website Design

Business professionals reviewing website design on a laptop during a meeting.

Our website design process is guided by a “deep dive” into understanding what your company is about and what makes an impression with your target audience.  A large corporate business has significant quantities of content that need to be properly managed and optimized.  They strive to be the industry thought leader.  A small business website is more of a brochure that needs to make a quick impression to convert the visitor into a lead.

Website Design Styles

All designers have different styles from business to cutesy, from creative to predictable.  Here are just some of the website design consideration.

  • Illustrations and Cartoons
  • Two Tone Color

Frequently Asked Questions About Website Design

How long does a website design project take?

It depends on scope. A focused brochure site moves faster than a large content site or an online store. We agree the number of page templates and the functionality at kickoff and set the timeline from there. The biggest variable is not our side of the work, it is how quickly content and feedback come back.

Do you design custom websites or start from a template?

Every TESSA design starts with a deep dive into your brand, your audience and your competitors, and then a custom home page concept. We do not resell a stock theme as custom work. Where a proven framework would save you budget without costing you distinctiveness, we say so up front.

What is included in a website design engagement?

Custom design, responsive layouts for phone, tablet and desktop, brand-aligned interface work, and design revisions. Development, content writing and ongoing marketing are quoted separately, so you can see what each part of the project actually costs.

Will the new site work properly on phones?

Yes. Every layout is designed to reflow for phone and tablet rather than shrink the desktop view. Mobile is usually the larger share of a site’s traffic, so we review the phone layout at the same time as the desktop one, not after launch.

Who writes the content for the new site?

Either side can. Most clients supply the raw material about their services and let us shape it into page copy that reads well and supports search. If you would rather hand the whole thing over, content writing is scoped as its own line item.

What happens after the design is approved?

The approved design moves into development, where it is built, tested across browsers and devices, connected to your content management system and launched. Our website development methodology covers that stage in detail.

Website design starts at $5,000 for the project. Every engagement is scoped to your goals, so that is a starting point rather than a quote. See all TESSA prices or book a call for a figure for your own business.
